Lithuanian Defense Minister visits the UK (19/10/2009)
Defense Minister Rasa Jukneviciene on Monday took off on an official two-day visit to the United Kingdom, where she will meet with colleagues to discuss NATO security issues.
In the framework of the UK visit, Jukneviciene will meet with Defense Minister Bob Ainsworth and chairpersons of the national defense and foreign affairs committees in the House of Commons to discuss bipartite defense cooperation, Lithuania's Defense Ministry said in a statement.
NATO missions in Afghanistan, the States' under way anti-missile defense system's impact on Alliance security, NATO's new and under-revision Strategic Concept, the Alliance's open-door policy, capabilities and air policing mission in the Baltic States will be among issues to come up in the meetings.
The Defense Minister on Tuesday will deliver address "Latest Developments in European Security: A Baltic Perspective" in the Chatham House-based Royal Institute of International Affairs.
